An attractive Chalkous from Erythrai

IONIA. Erythrai. Circa 400-375 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 12 mm, 2.13 g, 11 h). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. A Quiver over crossed club and bow. BMC 222 and SNG Copenhagen 567 var. (both with ethnic on the reverse). Triton V, 15 January 2002, 465 (same dies). Rare. A beautiful example with a dark green patina and attractive earthen highlights. Nearly extremely fine.

Ex Leu Web Auction 1, 25 June 2017, 532 and previously from the old stock of a Swiss Numismatist, acquired before 2005.
